The Main Alloys of Container Foil for Food

The use of aluminum foil container in some specific fields has been very common such as disposable food container on airplanes. It is also common to heat meals in microwave ovens or ovens. Aluminum foil is made of primary aluminum alloy after melting and rolling through multiple processes, and it does not contain harmful substances such as heavy metals.

In the production process of aluminum foil, a high temperature annealing and sterilization process is used, so the aluminum foil can safely come into contact with food and will not contain or facilitate the growth of bacteria. The common alloys of container foil for food are 8011, 3003, 5052, 3004 and 8006,etc.

8011 aluminum foil is a typical alloy which is currently the most widely used aluminum foil in our daily life, featuring low density, good corrosion resiatance and good shielding peroformance. It can be used for frozen and quick-frozen food packaging, barbecue, roast chicken, sausage and snack food packaging.

Compared with 8011 aluminum foil, the tensile strength of 8006 aluminum foil is higher, which can reach 125-135, and the cupping value and elongation of 8006 aluminum foil are also much higher than those of 8011 aluminum foil. What's more, 8006 aluminum foil is produced by hot rolling process. After stamping, the edge has no wrinkles and has a beautiful appearance. It is widely used in aircraft food container.

The early food tray was made of 3003 aluminum alloy. Later, in order to reduce costs, 8011 alloy also began to be used in aluminum foil tray. The reduction in cost has led to the further promotion and use of aluminum foil as a foil containier material, but at the same time, the strength of the food tray is significantly lower than that of 3003 alloy.

Both 3003 and 8011 can be used as raw materials for aluminum foil container, If the temper is H24, the elongation of 3003 is lower than that of 8011 aluminum foil, but the tensile strength of 3003 is higher. 3004 aluminum foil is 3 series hot-rolled aluminum foil. 3004 container foil has high hardness, good load-bearing, and better stamping effect than 3003 aluminum foil.

The food container made of 3004 aluminium alloy combines two advantages: the low price of 8011 aluminum foil and the high strenth of 3003 aluminum foil. 3004 aluminum foil canbe used for aluminum foil container, food packaging, honeycomb aluminum foil,etc.

As an aluminum plate, 5052 is an alloy with large market demand. As an aluminum foil, the common tempers are O, H18 and H24. The 5052 aluminium foil can be used as a food-grade container foil for making food container. It can also be used in n architectural decoration and honeycomb aluminum core.
